Overview
The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.
CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis.
Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing.
Program Overview
CHAI’s Global Tuberculosis program is working with our partners to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB), helping governments better diagnose, treat, and prevent the disease. We are closely working with suppliers and governments to facilitate the introduction of new quality-assured products at lower prices that offer higher cure rates, shorter treatment durations, and fewer side effects.
We support countries with innovative tools to find those who may be infected and get them treated early through the introduction and scale-up of new TB diagnostics. Our team has been supporting various National Tuberculosis Programs (NTPs) with the development of use cases, procurement, regulatory approval and rollout of the Chest X-ray machines and targeted Next Gen Sequencing (tNGS).
We help accelerate the adoption of treatment algorithms and service delivery innovations for drug-resistant TB. We are also working with countries to roll out shorter preventative treatments to vulnerable, high-risk populations, including people living with HIV, children, and contacts of those with the disease to prevent the active form of the disease.
Role Overview
We seek a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials and demonstrated experience for the role of Manager. The Manager will independently manage medium complexity projects for the Global TB team. The role involves leading donor engagement, collaborating with country teams to ensure quality and timely delivery, and providing technical guidance and support. They will support team leadership in scoping new areas of work and support the development of proposals.

The Manager must be driven, flexible, and resilient. They should be able to function independently and be comfortable working and coordinating the operations of cross-country teams. They should be highly adept at managing and excelling in uncertainty, analytical, and have a strong commitment to excellence.
Program Management
- Oversee execution of global TB grants, coordinating closely with country teams
- Lead donor engagement including management of expectations, reviewing team deliverables and acting as a thought partner to donors
- Support team leadership in development of the vision and strategic priorities for workstreams, and oversee the development of clear strategic and operational plans for program execution.
- Contribute to the strategy development for TB programs by sharing best practices and lessons learned from global and country programs, as appropriate.
New Program Development
- In partnership with team leadership, identify and develop fundraising opportunities.
- Identify potential opportunities to leverage donor and private sector resources.
- Support fundraising, including proposal development, for new opportunities where appropriate.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in strategy development, program implementation, or advisory roles within the private sector, public health, global development, or related fields, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management sciences, economics (pure or applied), finance, or public health with exceptional problem-solving solving skills and analytical capabilities.
- Proven success in developing and implementing strategies within highly dynamic, uncertain, urgent, and intensely competitive environments.
